Statistics from the Connecticut State Police fatalities decreased but DUI arrests were up from 2011.
2012 enforcement activity:

- DWI Arrests: 77
- Seatbelt Arrests: 816
- Speeding Arrests: 1,797
In 2011, there were 260 motor vehicles accidents and four fatal crashes. Troopers made 70 drunk driving arrests and issued 2,013 speeding tickets and 978 seatbelt tickets.

The Cheshire Police Department issued more than 30 tickets on May 21 as part of the state's “Click It Or Ticket” campaign to enforce seatbelt use.
The state police report the seatbealt enforcement action will continue over the summer months in an effort to rid the roads of aggressive, impaired and unsafe drivers.
