Meriden Man Dies in House Fire

A wife survives house fire but husband dies in weekend blaze.

The state's medical examiner's officer confirmed Sunday the death of Joel Kleinman in a house fire at 55 Corrigan Ave. in Meriden. An autopsy will be conducted today. No cause of death has been determined.

Meriden fire officials continue investigate the blaze that killed Kleinman and injured his wife, Jayne Kleinman, over the weekend.

The Record Journal newspaper, published information on the fire and reported she taken to MidState Medical Center following the fire.

The Meriden Fire Department received a call around 5:15 p.m. reporting a fire on the second floor of the single-family home, said Assistant Fire Chief Mark Finnegan.

The fire was contained to the second floor of the apartment, and was put out by firefighters within 10 minutes, the assistant chief said.
