Police Plan Roving Patrols for Holiday

Expect stepped-up patrols and sobriety checkpoints for July 4th and beyond.

The Connecticut State Police will conduct roving patrols and checkpoints beginning today until July 7. Here are the locations for the Cheshire area:

Troop I

  • 7/3/12 Roving patrols I-691 exit 3 to I-691 exit 12 in towns of Cheshire, Southington and Meriden.
  • 7/4/12 Roving patrols I-91 exit 19 to exit 3 in towns of Meriden, Wallingford, North Haven and New Haven.
  • 7/5/12 Roving patrols Route 15 exit 63 to exit 54 (Sikorsky Bridge) Milford Feeder in towns of North Haven, Hamden, New Haven, Woodbridge, Orange and Milford.
  • 7/6/12 Roving patrols Route 8 exit 29 to exit 11 in towns of Naugatuck, Beacon Falls, Seymour, Ansonia, Derby and Shelton.

Meanwile, AAA has announced a 4.9 percent increase in travel for the holiday. Here is a list of when drivers are expected to hit the road.

  • 25 percent – Friday, June 29
  • 16 percent – Saturday, June 30
  • 13 percent – Sunday, July 1
  • 11 percent – Monday, July 2
  • 19 percent – Tuesday, July 3
  • 16 percent – Wednesday, July 4
