Police: Port Chester Woman Attacked as She Tries to Break Up Fight

Investigation leads to two arrests in Port Chester.

An early-morning fight on Soundview Street in Port Chester left a woman injured, led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of two air-powered pistols, according to Port Chester Police.

A 45-year-old Port Chester woman suffered injuries to her face and an arm when she tried to break up a fight involving two men at about 1:17 a.m. Sunday in front of 37 Soundview Street. When the woman complained about being hit, she also told police that she saw what appeared to be a handgun being carried by one of the men involved with the fight.

Village police officers arrested Jaime Pesantes, 26, of 37 Soundview St., with third-degree assault in connection with the attack on the woman who tried to break up the fight. When police arrived at 37 Soundview, the second man involved with the fight had left the area.

A short time later, village police received reports of a man pointing what appeared to be a gun at people on Westchester Avenue in Port Chester. The description of the man involved in that incident was similar to that of the second man involved with the Soundview Street fight.

As Port Chester police investigated the report involving the gun, they went to 11 Pearl Street to question a man inside a restaurant. That man was questioned and released, but police next began to question a man seated at the same table at the restaurant.

Police said that man, Ignacio Perez-Alvarez, 26, of 82 St. John's Place, New Rochelle, was uncooperative and argued with village officers. That led to Perez-Alvarez's arrest on a charge of second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor.

During the investigation, police found two air-powered guns hidden in the snow next to a Jeep parked on Pearl Street that was being used by Perez-Alvarez. One of the guns fires pellets while the other gun shoots paintballs.

Police guns were seized by police. Pesantes and Perez-Alvarez both face hearings in Port Chester Village Court.
