Serious Injuries Averted in Overturned Auto Accident

Cheshire Fire Department advises residents to stay home and be safe on slick roads.

Slick roads from this early season snow storm are being cited as the cause of an accident that left a vehicle upside down this afternoon.

Cheshire Fire Chief Jack Casner said the accident, involving a single vehicle that had children in it, took place near the intersection of Mountain and Higgins roads at about 1:30 p.m. today, Oct. 29.

The report came in that several people were trapped in the vehicle, but upon fire department arrival all but one person was out, Casner said. That individual was pulled from the vehicle by Cheshire Police.

Casner said he was unsure if any of the occupants were transported to the hospital. Police were not immediately available for comment.

"Most of the roads are covered and extremely slick," Casner said. "People need to bare that in mind."

"Just stay home," he added, noting that public works crews are just getting out to treat roadways. "If you have to go out, stay on the main roads and travel within a reasonable speed."
