Two Cheshire Residents Charged in State Drug Sting

The residents, both of Blacks Road, were taken into custody following an undercover sting in which they allegedly sold an undercover officer heroin on several occasions.

A police raid of a Blacks Road home late last week led to the discovery of 18 pre-packed bags of heroin and has two local residents facing charges related to the sale of heroin in Cheshire.

Officers took James Greene and Halie Demonte, both of Cheshire, into custody Thursday evening following the execution of a search warrant at their 551 Blacks Road home.

Greene, 23, was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court Friday on charges of sale of marijuana, three counts of operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, three counts of possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, operation of a drug factory and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released on a promise to appear and the charges split between individual sales following arraignment.

According to Cheshire Police Department records, Delmonte, 21, is facing one charge of possession of a controlled substance.

The arrests came following a raid of the Blacks Road home following a several month investigation into drug sales at the house, police said Monday. The investigation was done in partnership with the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force.

Police reports said officers had conducted surveillance and used of an undercover officer to make contact with Greene. During a two-month investigation, the undercover officer made three separate purchases which allowed police to obtain a search warrant, according to Lt. James Fasano.

Officers enterd the home Thursday and seized several items including 18 bags of heroin, two Adderall pills, $800 in cash, a .22 caliber rifle, three facsimile handguns, one marijuana plant, drug paraphernalia and several items related to growing marijuana.

Greene is due back before a judge on March 27 and could present a plea at that time, according to state Judicial Branch website records. Delmonte, who was released after posting a $10,000 bond, is due in court for arraignment on March 13.
