The only working traffic light on Route 10 is at the intersection of East and West Johnson Avenue. The outage then resumes at the intersection of the 691 off-ramp and at the dangerous Rt. 322 crossing where a fatal accident occured several years ago.
Public safety officials say the only safe way to cross such intersections is to come to a full stop and then proceed as if it were a four-way stop. Temporary stop signs were installed Sunday afternoon by the Cheshire Police Department at a number of intersections but others lack a warning sign.
Traffic officers urge drivers to stop at any intersection that lacks a working traffic light. When going through the intersection use caution because the crossing traffic may not stop.
