More Than 10,000 Still Without Power on Monday, Few Working Traffic Lights in Cheshire,

With only one working traffic light on the entire length of Route 10, intersections may become dangerous.

The only working traffic light on Route 10 is at the intersection of East and West Johnson Avenue. The outage then resumes at the intersection of the 691 off-ramp and at the dangerous Rt. 322 crossing where a fatal accident occured several years ago.

Public safety officials say the only safe way to cross such intersections is to come to a full stop and then proceed as if it were a  four-way stop. Temporary stop signs were installed Sunday afternoon by the Cheshire Police Department at a number of intersections but others lack a warning sign.

Traffic officers urge drivers to stop at any intersection that lacks a working traffic light. When going through the intersection use caution because the crossing traffic may not stop.
