Anti-Tax Message Brought to Cheshire
The town's three Republican members of its legislative delegation held a Town Hall meeting last week in answer to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's proposed budget.
For the first time in recent memory, the town's state legislative delegation has a majority of Republican members. Three of the five officials who represent Cheshire are Republicans and two are strong allies of the Tea Party movement: State Sen. Joe Markley, R- Southington and newly elected State Sen. Len Suzio, R- Meriden have both embraced the anti-tax sentiment of the grass-roots movement. Rep. Al Adinolfi, R- Cheshire, has been less vocal about the anti-tax stance.
The three politicians held a Town Hall meeting last week to speak about their opposition to the proposed budget of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy which was approved by two key legislative committees; appropriations and finance, on Thursday.
The $40.2 billion two-year budget must still be voted on by all members of the House of Representatives and the Senate before it will become law.
