Detail of Cheshire Budget for Town Services

Taxes to increase by $1,625 with proposed budget.

The town has posted the proposed 2012-13 fiscal year budget that pays for the operation of the town's services.

A public hearing on the budget will be held on Tues., March 27 but the will hold six public meetings beginning tonight, March 14, to review the budget in detail.

An unknown cost this year comes from the still to be negotiated contracts for four of the town's five bargaining units; police, public works, town hall and library. Because the wage scales haven't been approved, Town Manager Michael Milone said the budget contains an estimate of the expected increase.
