Cheshire Recycling Reminder: No Plastic Grocery Bags

From the town of Cheshire:

The Town of Cheshire would like to thank residents for making our automated recycling program a success.  The new program has reduced our operating costs and increased the volume of recycled materials.

Residents are reminded that plastic grocery bags must NOT be placed in the recycling containers.  These bags are not recyclable through our program; they get caught in the processing equipment, and there is an additional charge at the recycling plant if plastic bags are found in the recycling stream.  Please help us keep costs down and throw all plastic grocery and retail bags into the trash, or return them to the store in which they were obtained.

Residents are also asked to put their containers out prior to 5:30 a.m. on their collection day, since pick up times can vary from week to week.

A list of acceptable materials and the biweekly collection schedule calendar and street listings for A and B week collections for 2013 and 2014 are available on the Town website at www.cheshirect.org  (look for the Automated Recycling link on the main page or go to the “Trash, Recycling and Energy” link on the listing on the left hand side of the main webpage, and click on “Recycling.”)
