Compare New CT Health Care Exchange Plans Side-by-Side

The Affordable Care Act — also known colloquially as ObamaCare — goes into effect across the nation next Tuesday, Oct. 1, creating health care exchanges intended to give consumers more alternatives.

Uninsured or under-insured residents will now have a wider range of choices through the exchange, as will persons who currently get their health insurance through their employers but would like more options.


But the wealth of new options can be confusing. 

Using data filings from Connecticut insurance companies, ValuePenguin, an analytic consumer finance website, has created a Health Insurance Exchange Comparison Tool [see above] that lets users compare insurers, plans, premiums and more county by county.

“The states are scheduled to make plans available to the public beginning with the open enrollment period on Oct. 1, 2013,” ValuePenguin co-founder Jonathan Wu said. “Consumers should see beforehand what these costs, subsidies and plans are so they can begin preparing for this important change.”

ValuePenguin has created comparison tools for 17 states — including Connecticut — broken down at the county level.
