Cost of Treatment Plant Upgrade is 78 Percent of Capital Budget Request

The town's capital budget, with requests for 21 major projects, is projected to cost $38 million for the fiscal year which began on July 1.

A series of capital budget workshops begins this week as the Town Council reviews funding requests for big-ticket items that aren't included in the general operating budget. Some of the capital costs will be paid for by bonding, or borrowing, the money; others costs will be covered by grants.

Here are key requests contained in the capital budget:

  • $30 million for treatment plant upgrade (grants may be available)
  • $2.5 million for expansion of Linear Park (grants will reduce cost)
  • $1.1 million for education projects
  • $1.5 million for land acquisition

The schedule of budget meetings and the town's capital expenditure plan can be seen in the attached pdfs.
