Debate Continues Over Second Ladder Truck
Cheshire Town Council to vote on capital budget next month.
The debate over a second ladder truck for the Cheshire Fire Department continued Tuesday night when some Town Council members questioned whether the town needs it, according to the Waterbury Republican-American.
The ladder truck will cost $1.2 million and is the second-most expensive item on the town's $10.6 million capital budget for this fiscal year, which the council is expected to vote on next month.
If approved by the council, the ladder truck will go to a town referendum because the cost exceeds the $350,000 threshold.
Fire Chief Jack Casner has requested the second ladder truck for the past several years, according to the Republican-American, and it caused debate among council members last year and was eventually taken off the list of projects to be approved.
