Esty Kicks Off Grassroots Campaign

Congressional candidate Elizabeth Esty holds open house.

Fifth District Candidate Elizabeth Esty of Cheshire hosted more than 100 supporters at an open house at her campaign headquarters on South Main Street on Saturday.

The event was a billed as a kick-off for the Esty campaign’s grassroots field operation. Supporters signed up to phone bank, canvass, make signs, and film video testimonials for Esty in her campaign for the open congressional seat.

“We’re here today because we all know that we can’t wait for Washington to fix itself,” Esty said. “We need to take it upon ourselves to bring common sense and accountability to Washington now. And we know that this election is our chance to make it happen... We’re going to outwork our opponents, and we’re going to earn the support of voters all across the district.”

The event continues a highly successful April for Esty’s campaign. She has brought in a total of $1.1 million and begins the second quarter of the year with more than $800,000 cash on hand.

Esty's campaign treasurer is Cheshire Town Council member Patti Flynn-Harris.
