Nearly Five Million Box Fans Recalled
Fans made by Lasko Products Inc., of West Chester, Penn. have started seven fires including two house and one barn fire.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission told consumers they should stop using the box fans immediately.
Electrical failure in the fan's motor poses fire hazards, according to the commission. Three of the fires caused extensive property damage. No one was injured.
The fans were sold nationwide from July 2002 through December 2005 for between $12 and $25.
