Registration begins for the Cheshire Rugby Club on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at . For the first time, the club will form a girls team that has early support from about 50 girls, according to the club.

Two high school girls programs began last year in Southington and Simsbury and Cheshire plans to join in the action during the club's seventh season. Other new teams being considered are in New London and Amity.

The Cheshire boys program will be competing in the newly formed "Division 1 Connecticut" to include Fairfield Prep, Greenwich, Darien, Simsbury, Fairfield, and Staples of Westport.

Division 2 teams include West Hartford, Hartford, Madison, Southington, Stamford, Amity, and New London. Stratford and Redding are starting programs this spring.

The Cheshire club's rules allow athletes from other towns to join the team. This year’s team is expected to bring in new players from Pomperaug, Maloney and Hamden High Schools.

The boy’s season will run from March until Memorial Day weekend.  Clikc here for more information, including registration info and schedules. Or, contact Bill Bishop at ctrugby13@yahoo.com
