CHS Cheerleaders Going Gator

The CHS competitive cheerleaders raised money for trip themselves.

The competitive cheerleading team from Cheshire High School will be represented at the Gator Bowl Invitational’s half-time performance, to be held Jan. 2 in Jacksonville, Fla. They are the only team going from Connecticut.

As reported in the Rampage, the student newspaper of Cheshire High School, the team was faced with raising the money for the trip themselves, $1400 per student, through fundraising efforts, such as cupcake sales, car washes, and business sponsorships.

“For the girls, it is a really big deal. It is a chance for them to compete in a national bid, which is a difficult level of competition,” Coach Lisa Frazier told the Rampage.

Cheerleader Jessica D’Andrea, class of 2014, is quoted in the Rampage as saying, “This is a chance to showcase our talent and represent Cheshire High School at a national level.”
