An Exceptional Education Experience!
The Cheshire Nursery School provides an individualized program of school-readiness for pre-schoolers, and school enrichment for our Darcey kindergarten students. CNS is not a daycare center! We offer a carefully crafted inquiry-based curriculum designed to challenge each child to stretch and grow. Professional staff tailor the program to the individual needs of each child, ensuring that the particular challenges they encounter ultimately lead to success. This experience of positive outcomes rewarding their efforts enhances children's self-confidence and naturally promotes a joy for learning!
We are proud to say that each of our teachers holds at least a Bachelors Degree in Education, with all staff certified to teach at the elementary school level. Additionally, Director Jan Romo brings over 35 years experience in every aspect of early childhood education. Our developmentally-appropriate program is based on the Bank Street educational model. Our children learn while having fun using hands-on, discovery-based methods to explore science, math, language, and the arts, as well as enhancing social, spatial, and physical skills.
Our one-room school house is cozy and warm, situated on acres of fields and woods offering an unparalleled "outdoor campus" for nature studies. Our staff is dedicated, nurturing and professional. We welcome your visit, and will happily answer any questions you might have about our program. We feel sure you will find CNS to be a unique and welcoming community of learners!
Our morning session runs from 8:30a.m. til 11:30a.m. The focus is on 3-5's, but afternoon kindergarteners will also be well accommodated, though no transportation is provided.
The afternoon session runs from 12:30p.m. til 5:00p.m. and is geared toward pre-k children and kindergarteners, aged 4-6. Bus transportation is available for a.m. kindergarteners from Darcey School to the Cheshire Nursery School.
We offer a full-day summer experience divided into three 2-week sessions throughout July and August. An extension of our discovery-based academic year curriculum is offered, along with water play and an even greater emphasis on outdoor activities.
The summer program runs from 9:00a.m. til 5:00p.m. Children from 3 years of age through rising first-graders are eligible. Part-week options are available, and a discount is offered for prepaid enrollment in all three sessions.
