Three Cheshire Students Honored by National Merit Scholarship Program

Xavier High School announces national recognition for student.

Eleven Xavier High School seniors were recently named "Commended Students" in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Three are from Cheshire. They are:

  • Michael Purcell, Cheshire
  • Daniel Tomanelli, Cheshire
  • Zachary Ziobrowski, Cheshire

Other students recognized are:

  • Mark Breault, Ivoryton
  • Christian Cannata, Cromwell
  • Nathaniel Clark, Plainville
  • Daniel Drabinski, Madison
  • Michael Lanza, Newington
  • Michael Massaro, East Haddam
  • Matthew Pias, Higganum
  • John Reidy, Northford

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are recognized for their exceptional academic promise. To receive the recognition, they placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
