Great news everyone! Abby Huntsman just got herself a big job as one of the hosts of an MSNBC show! Who's Abby Huntsman, you ask? Why, Abby's the daughter of John Huntsman. He's a former governor who ran for president last election cycle. Isn't that delightful?
If only we could all be related to John Huntsman! Then unemployment would be non-existent and America would be prosperous. Okay, I'm being snarky here. Truth be told, I have nothing against Abby Huntsman. For all I know, she's a warm, caring and very bright woman.
In case you haven't noticed, though, we now live in the United States of Favoritism. Perhaps we always have, but in an era of long lasting high unemployment, the obvious starts to become glaring. Would Ms. Huntsman, one wonders, really be getting such a plum job if her dad wasn't a major political player?

Nothing so petty is worth getting bitter about, but it is okay for us to roll our collective eyes and exclaim there might, just might, be an equally qualified woman out there to occupy Ms. Huntsman’s seat in the studio. Just something to think about.
