A: It was one of the greatest feelings I've ever had. I jumped out of my seat with my whole family. It was such a feeling of accomplishment, it's hard to explain.

Q: How was your experience at the Senators' development camp this past week?

A: A lot of people told me Ottawa is big on developing players, and that's something I saw over the course of the week. We'd have breakfast, then go over to the rink and skate for two hours in the morning. After lunch we had seminars including nutrition, cooking, a basketball coach came in and talked about how to be a champion. Then we'd have a workout for two hours including a lot of stretching. I'm very happy to be a part of this organization. They want to help me develop into a better player.

Q: Who is your hockey idol?

A: Growing up, my idol was probably Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars. I grew up watching him a lot and loved him. I loved the way he played the game, plus he was a great guy on and off the ice. He was very unselfish with the puck. You could also put Craig Janney in there too; my dad played with him growing up, and he always told me to play like Craig. He was an unbelievable player who had a great NHL career, and I tried to model my game after him.

Q: What are your immediate plans before turning pro?

A: I'll have one more year in Indiana for juniors, then in the fall of 2013 I'm going to Boston University. Everyone develops at a different rate, and when the coaches decide I'm ready to move on to the next level, I will.

Q: From the time you started as a little mite through today, what is your biggest thrill in hockey?

A: I'd have to say the draft; it was an unbelievable feeling, and it only happens to 211 draft picks a year. To be a part of that was just unbelievable.
