Cheshire's Malloy Starring In Australian Ice Hockey League
Cheshire's Robert Malloy is the team captain of the Sydney Ice Dogs.
Robert Malloy, a former standout hockey player at Cheshire High School, is now the team captain of the Sydney Ice Dogs.
The Cheshire Citizen reports that Malloy, 26, is in his third year in the Australian Ice Hockey League, playing for the country's capital city team. He is seeking to gain permanent residence status in Australia, which would make him eligible for the Australian national team in two years.
"There are a number of limited (work) visa’s (class B1) available. Americans are limited to one year,” Malloy told the newspaper. “I now have a wife and a full-time job and I will be eligible for permanent residency in the next month. So I will lose my import status, but will be eligible to play for the (Australian) national team when I get my citizenship in about two years.”
