Fields & River Hike begins at 8am. This 1-mile hike on easy terrain will travel through the western fields of Ives Farm to the banks of the meandering Quinnipiac River. Leaders Mark Kasinskas and Rick Marinaro will share information on the history of Cheshire farming and the discuss the importance or rivers, floodplains, and aquifers. Experience the early spring goings-on in Ives Farm country and the adjoining Pelz farm property up close and personal. Hike will last approximately 1 hour.
Woodland Hike begins at 11am. This-2 mile hike will take place throughout the more sloping and forested east side of the Ives Farm property on easy-moderate terrain. Hike leaders Mark Kasinskas and Rick Marinaro will explore the farm’s 80-acre woodland and discuss local forests and forest history. Come explore and learn about this terrific woodland - a part of Ives Farm you probably never knew about. Hike will last approximately 1.5 hours.
Refreshments will be available after both hikes. The farm stand will be open, and if mother nature cooperates, strawberries will be ready for picking too (costs apply).
Please arrive 10 minutes in advance of the scheduled hike time. Park and meet at the Ives Farm farm stand on the east side of Cheshire Street (across the street from the farm house at 1585 Cheshire Street).
