Former Cheshire Sea Dog Sets National Swimming Record

Connor Maher, who got his start with the Cheshire YMCA Sea Dogs, breaks three-year-old record.

Former Cheshire Y Sea Dog Connor Maher broke the national record this week for the Men's 200 meter Individual Medley during the YMCA Long Course Nationals in Atlanta.

According to Swimming World , Maher won the event in 2:05.13, beating the previous record by six seconds.  

Maher also qualified as the second fastest swimmer into the finals, as reported by blogs.bettor.com

Maher will attend Princeton University in the fall where he will swim freestyle, back and individual medley for the Tigers. The university's biography on Maher shows he won three New England Prep School championships; holds New England Prep School record in 100 free (45.61), as well as Connecticut record (15-16) in 400m IM and Connecticut Resident record (15-18) in 100 back.
