Rams Softball Putting Up Offensive Numbers

Cheshire shows strong early-season hitting while improving to 6-1; Boys volleyball undefeated at 6-0.

The Cheshire softball team has been hitting the ball unlike  earlier teams, piling up runs against its opponents in an unprecedented manner.

Witness this past week's victories. The Rams started with a 12-1 victory over Guilford in their first Southern Connecticut Conference Housatonic game at home Wednesday.

Then despite a strong head wind from right field all morning Thursday that saw the Rams hit 16 fly ball outs, Cheshire finally prevailed over Amity 6-5 with a six-run rally in the bottom of the seventh topped by a three-run home run by starting pitcher Nicole D'Amato.

Cheshire coach Maureen DiSorbo couldn't be more pleased with her group so far this season.

"I'm very proud of this team," DiSorbo said after the Amity victory. "This is one of the first times in my coaching career I feel that we're probably the strongest offensively. Usually, we're a very good defensive team, but this year's offense has just been incredible early in the season.
