Soar High During April School Break!

Kite flying, a Q River paddle and clean-up plus the always popular "Touch-a-Truck" event are coming up next week.

Go Fly Your Kite, Monday, April 18, 10 am - 11 a.m. Bartlem Park Baseball Diamond on South Main Street. Open to kite enthusiasts who are young, or young at heart! Children will be entered into a free raffle. Register at field. No Fee!

Fishing Derby, Tuesday, April 19th at Mixville Recreation Area  in the upper pond. Open to ages 16 and under.  Registration: 9:45-10:00 am. Fishing will take place from 10:00-11:30 am. The fishing derby will end with the presentation of trophies and a prize drawing at 11:30 a.m.  Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish in 3 age categories: 6 and under, 7-11 and 12- 16. Everyone must supply their own fishing rods, buckets, bait, etc.

Touch a Truck, Thursday, April 21st, 10:00 am -12:00 pm at Bartlem Park on South Main Street. Please bring a nonperishable food item for the Cheshire Food Pantry. Children can climb into the seats of the huge trucks that are provided by local companies and town departments. You may see fire trucks, garbage trucks, dump trucks, a pay loader, rescue trucks and law enforcement vehicles. There will be a free raffle of toy trucks at 11:15 am  Join the Cheshire Parks and Recreation Department staff for a fun-filled morning.

Quinnipiac River Clean-up, April 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Preregistration required. Enjoy a springtime canoe trip down the Quinnipiac River. Bring water and wear proper attired.  Meet at the state storage lot on Route 322, Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike. Canoes will be available.  Fee: $5  http://www.cheshirect.org/parkrec
