Cheshire football coach Mark Ecke hopes to get another shot at the Xavier Falcons this season, possibly in the Class LL playoffs.

The No. 1 Xavier's offensive line was impressive, he said, as they helped free running back Mike Matrioanni for 189 yards on 30 carries, in the Rams' 42-20 loss Friday night at Palmer Field in Middletown.

The Rams' next game is Thursday at Falcon Field in Meriden, where the Cheshire (2-1) will host Daniel Hand-Madison for another Southern Connecticut Conference interdivision game.
