Two Fundraisers this Weekend for Josh Budd, Injured Cheshire Soldier

The Cheshire Junior Football League will hold a football throwing contest on Saturday and Cheshire Youth Baseball/Softball has a benefit tournament on Sunday.

Since learning of the injuries of nineteen-year-old Cheshire soldier Josh Budd in Afghanistan, residents have planned no less than three events to raise funds for his medical costs. A group called "" is also accepting donations to help with costs once Pfc. Budd returns to Cheshire.

Budd was seriously injured in July while serving with the US Army. He is now being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Maryland.

  • Sat., Aug. 20, Football Throwing Contest, Cheshire Youth Football Jamboree, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bartlem Park, $5 for three throws.
  • Sun., Aug. 21st, Benefit Softball Tournament, CYB/CYS, 9 am to 5 pm, Bartlem Park, $ 20 player.
  • Sun. Sept. 11, , Cheshire Fire Department event, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., VFW Post, 219 Cheshire Rd., Prospect, donations accepted.
