Step back in time along the Farmington canal pathway which follows the historic canal line that allowed barges to travel from New Haven to Northampton, Mass. The paved trail is handicapped accessible and is open to walkers, rollerbladers and cyclists. Dogs are allowed too. The 2.8-mile-long path runs past the old Lock 12 site which was built in the 1830s and restored in the 1990s. The park offers a pavilion, cooking grills, seasonal restrooms and benches. It is the town's most popular recreational destination.
