The building on Main Street was built in 1958 but the history of church goes back to the mid-1800s when a mission wasMore established in Cheshire. The church now has more than 2,500 members and operates St. Bridget School which is next door. The church is involved with the town's food pantry. The St. Bridget cemetery is on Higgins Road.

The Cheshire United Methodist Church building on Academy Road was constructed in 1970 with an addition of a formalMore sanctuary completed in 1987. The history of the church, however, begins much earlier - in the 1830s. The original building on Spring and Main Streets was built at that time, for a cost of about $3,000.</p> <p>That building now houses the Temple Beth David Synagogue. </p>
