• Andrew Roraback for CongressNeighbor

  • Avon, CT

From a family which has called Litchfield County home for five generations, Andrew has been elected nine times by the citizens of northwestern Connecticut to the General Assembly. He served in the House of Representatives from 1995-2000 and has been in the Senate from 2001 until now. In the seventeen years that he has served, Senator Roraback has never missed a roll call vote, casting 8,468 consecutive votes. Andrew is the only one out of 187 legislators who can claim this record.

As the Senate Ranking Member of the Legislature’s Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, Senator Roraback has been a vocal leader in opposing the imposition of the largest tax hike in Connecticut’s history when so many are jobless and virtually all struggle to make ends meet. He has consistently voted against borrowing to pay for non-essential “pet projects” at a time when Connecticut’s economic outlook has been downgraded from “stable” to “negative” by Moody’s.

Andrew is known for common sense leadership, his problem solving skills and his commitment to being responsive to the needs of the people and communities he represents.

In addition to his leadership role on the Finance Committee, Andrew has been widely recognized for his work on education, criminal justice, domestic violence and environmental issues. In 2006, Senator Roraback was honored by being named to the Aspen-Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership as one of the nation’s top young elected officials.

Born on March 29, 1960 in Torrington, Andrew is a 1983 cum laude graduate of Yale College, and he received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1987. He works with his father, brother and sister at the family law firm of Roraback and Roraback which was started in Torrington by his great-grandfather in 1883.

Andrew lives in Goshen with his wife Kara and their son Andrew Kevin.
